An Organization That El Paso Can Well Feel Proud of and Should Encourage for Its Efficiency and Usefulness. To V. II. Carter belongs the honor of first suggesting the advisability of or- ganizing a tire company in El Pao and on August 19 1882 be with others circulated a paper for signatures re- sulting in forty-six charter members signing the roll. Four days later on August 22. a meeting was held on the balcony of the old Grand Central Ho- tel wbere the organization was made permanent under the style and name of "Kl Paso Hose Company No. 1" aDd the following officers were elected: J.
