The influenza Epidemic. Ill Melbourne Wednesday, 59.3 fresh cases were reported, and there were 1J deaths. At Bcudigo there were 4 deaths. In Victoria since the outbreak there has been SC3 deaths. 8y occurring in the country. Sydney reported on Wednesday 2U2 fresh cases and 22 deaths in the hospital. In addition there were four deaths in the country. It was reported that Melville Smith, son of Mr G. Smith, who was recently transferred from the local post office to Sydn.y, was suf fering from the fell disease. Yes terday we were informed by Mrs Smith that her son was progressing splendidly, and that pneumonia had not developed. In this case a nurse could not be secured in Sydney, and Mr Smith engaged a Melbourne nurse to go across.
