ABOUT AUSTRALIA. SIR MATTHEW NATHAN' DESCRIBES EARLY DISCOVERIES. There was an excellent attendance at the Town Hall last evening, says last Saturday's 'Toowoomba Chronicle' when his Excellency the State Gov ernor (Sir Matthew Nathan G.C.M.G.. P.C.) gave an interesting lecture oa sixteenth Century.' The lecture was illustrated by bntern slide?, and was followed with the keenest interest throughout. Tile Governor was accompanied by Dr. and Mrs. MTJonnoIl. Miss Penelope Cay and Dr. J. P. Thomson (Bris bane), Mr. S. -.T. Hsu-wood (secretary to the Toowoomba Society) was also present, as were Mrs. L.' E. Groom, Messrs. H. Yeates. J. Tolmie. Dr T| A Price, and many other leading citi zens. His Worship the Mayor (Alderman A. R. Godsall) presided. The Mayor in introducing his Ex cellency, thanked him for his offer to officiate at the first meeting ror 192.1 of the society. (Applause).
