LATE QUEEN OF SWEDEN [Newspaper Article] — Bruthen and Tambo Times — 11 March 1914

IiATE QUEEN* Ol^ SWEDEN The late Queen Sophie of Sweden Vv'as a great reader, and was well ac quainted with many of the religious books that have been published in the last thirty years (says "The West minster Gazette"). She read the books of Dr. F. B. Meyer with much appre ciation, and took the first opportu nity of hearing him preach on an in cognito visit to London. Queen So phie attended several years ago the Keswick Convention, with which she was in full sympathy. Few in the great tent were aware that the sweet faced elderly lady in black was a Queen. In her many years of ill health the Queen was never idle, for she loved to work for the poor and needy. The Salvation Army and the late General Booth held a high place in her thoughts. Volumes dealing with foreign missions were perused by Queen Sophie with practical re sults, for she contributed to various special efforts.
