From what your correspondent can gather it appears that three cane growers, Including Mr George Prliigle, of Saltwater, were riding cast tho Japanese quarters in the main street when thay heard a woman screaming. Knowing that there were two while women (unon the ear-nines of whose immorality these Japanese were liv ing) resident in the vicinity, the three horsemen came to the conclusion that those women were being badly treated, and went to their assistance. ? Mr George Pringle got into the building, but one of the others went back to got a stirrup leather off his saddle. Mr George Pringle was afterwards brought in to Port Douglas Hospital with a fractured skull. He had also received a stab in the back. One of his com panions received a stab in Vlit leg.
