X, 4.---" For the weapsons of our warutre are notcarnal, but mig hty, through God, to the pulling down of strongholds." Mr Walker said : St. Paul's style of praching was not suchi as to pander to Corinthian taste. Unfa vorable criticism said of himu, "For his letters are weighty and powerful; but his bodily presence is Vweak, and his speech contemptible," It was even iisitniatedt that, failing eloquence, and the power of language, lie fell lack on his authority. To this insinuation he indignantly replied, as in the text. The auccass of Christiani. ty does not depend on carnal weapons. Ini the history of war the impotence of weapolns of warfare is seen, as each is superseded by something better. Olis weapo~s are mighty and lead to a better way of settling disputes tlhn by war. But worse than war was the practice of endeavoring to christianize people by force. People have actually been dragged to bapt...

FOOTBALL. TRARALGON V. ROSEDALE. [Newspaper Article] — Traralgon Record — 18 May 1886

FOOTBALL, -- TulaaLeooN v. ROSEDALE.. The Tnralgon club played its first matclh this seasoon n Saturday againtst the Rosedale team on the latter's ground. The Rosedale men had fixed the time for the match at 1.30, as it wns supposed that the visiting team would have come up by rail. ?No arrangement however to that ellect had been made, and it was thought it would suit all parties equally well to drive up. Accordingly Mr. Wellwood's four horse drag, and a pair horse buggywere chartered to take the local men to Rosedale, but owing to a want of punctuality on the part of some of the memnlbers, ? start was not made from Traralgon until half-past one o'clock. It was therefore half-past three o'clock before the match was begun. The Rosedale team was captained by Mr. Shiells, and the Traralgon men were in command of Mr. F, S. Neale. About 100personswitnessed the match, which was much too onesided to cause imuch excitement, the Rosedale men having the best of it throughout. It must however ...
