LABOUR CLAIMS. [Newspaper Article] — The Mount Barker Courier and Onkaparinga and Gumeracha Advertiser — 4 February 1927

LABOUR CLAIMS. The Premier, on Friday, at Murray Brlidge, said that during the Labour Government's term of office they had erected 2,800 more homes than the Liberal Government had built in their corresponding term of office. They were told at the last election that La bour, If elected, would confiscate their homes, but this record was a complete refutation of the statement. Every-' thing was to go to rack and ruin, but what were the facts? There were 4,900 new depositors In the Pavings Bank since Labour' started to hold office, and during the same period no less than 29,000 more motor cars bad been purchased. The Premier wdut. on to extol the Endowment Act under which a widow was now provided with 15/- per week for each child under the age of 16 years, and this was the Act of the Labour Party.'

"RUNNING DOWN HILL." [Newspaper Article] — The Mount Barker Courier and Onkaparinga and Gumeracha Advertiser — 4 February 1927

"RUNNING DOWN HILL." The Premier made a point p.t the Labour Social on Friday last which created much laughter, though he dis claimed any intention of making a pun. He referred to Mr. Butler and the Liberal Federation and likened tliem to an old delapidaled broken down motor car with the gears all gone, steering wheel away, dif- ' ferentials all astray, but they were working hard to get it going. Mr. Butler seemed to be quite exuberant because the horn was sound, and after a deal of work they seemed to have got the old machine to a condition that at least It was capable of "Run ning down hill."

SPORTING. By "Courier." TATTERSALLS SELECTIONS. [Newspaper Article] — The Mount Barker Courier and Onkaparinga and Gumeracha Advertiser — 4 February 1927

SPORTING. By "Courier/' agagaffissagMB TATTERSALL6 SELECTIONS. -What struck me as the outstanding performance at Victoria Park on Mon day was the wis registered by Ibracian Belle In the Glenunga Handi cap. All along I have maintained that this St. Anton mare is the most promising in the State, and she proved it right up to the hilt. Con sidering that she won in a canter and made such smart time, it is quite possible she would have established i record had she been pressed. Thracian Belle will go much furtber and it was rather astonishing that Cockiua should have been preferred in the betting. She. made a show of Atl Quality and Cerulean. .. Nlcholander was never going com fortably in the Hurdles, and the chances are that he was frightened. A lie Chief made Mount Cooper go a bit fast, atfd whep this pair had fin ished Lord Hatan went on to win untroubled. St. Speed was beaten too badly in the Monreith Stakes for the form to be correct. He did not make the same semblance of a fight Be...
