Constitution in Sheep. [Newspaper Article] — The Western Champion — 6 December 1879

* Constitution in Sheep. A Cotswold sheep, or Southdown, lias con stitution Cur laying on flash and early matu rity under rough treatment. Constitution in a merino sheep will admit of all tiieso mean ings of the term, and still lack what we claim as the essential purposes a sheep is kept for. A shncp must produce a fleece and a carcass. The two must be in harmony and unanimity. If it has the constitution to grow mora wool than carcngB it will be n failure. If carcass and a light flccoc it will be unprofitable uf its owner. If for the pastoral regions to rim in the natural way with the flock, it must lie constitutionally fit to travel, do service, aud secure a living on the range. Vita tUu Uteris mart eft. BLACKALL, 8AT0BDAY, DEC. 6. Oh behalf of the Government, Messrs. Wamok, Feuodbon, & Co., hare pub lished a pamphlet containing an explana tion of the Divisional Boards Act, containing also the foil text of the Act, and the boundaries of the proclaimed divisions. The writer of the pamphlet admits that the political influences hitherto brought to bear upon the man agement of road and bridge works has been fraught with evil results, and lie is of opinion that the present Act will change all this sort of thing, and restore to politicians their pristine purity. Whether this happy result will be achieved so easily as the Government seem to expect is a debatable question ; but if it still remains in the discretion of Parliament to authorise special votes for local works in eases which demand exceptional treatment, as the writer of the pamphlet states, we arc afraid that the system of log-rolling will still con tinue to perplex and harass whatever Ministry ...
