[HOUSEHOLD 1 HOW SHADOW APPLIQUE IS MADE . Shadow applique , like its predecessor , shadow embroidery , won the popular approval of needle crafters in general from its very inception . It is so simple that no one need hesitate in undertake it . and this fact combined with its inexpensive and artistic qualities no doubt accounts for the admiration it receives . The relation which the herringbone stitch bore to shadow embroidery necessarily caused the designs for that particular work to be chiefly of long , narrow forms .
