Lane, Senator Green and ' Representatives Nichols, Scott, Stephens, ' Lfet'cher, Thayer, Comins, Stevenson and Orr. nearlv ail of whom delivered brief seeches, eulogizing the political event. The president, in response to repeated rills; appeared at the window of the White House. He presumed, he said, from ihis handsome demonstration, that the Oregon bill had passed.
