J 1A vn Tic BEE Published every Saturday at 1109 I stree north west,. "Washington, D. C. Eutered at the Post Office at "Washington D. C, as Second Cass mail matter. DOUGLASS ItErREATS. Why Mr. Douglass shou'd ever have opposed the nomination and election of any colored man of the 4th district of Virginia is a public mystery. Why he should have opposed John Mercer Langston in such regard is not only a public mys tery, but a mystery from whose consequences he never can re lieve himself by claiming that he is without interest pro or con as to Langston's seat in Congress and, therefore, he takes neutral grounds with respect thereto. The colored American and his whit friend want to know why Mr. Douglass is not now certainly an active supporter of Langston in his demand for a place in Con eress, against a democrat like Veneable and a pretentious re publican void of sincerity, like Mahone, Would it not be wise for Mr. DouglaiB to make some sort of explanation now, satisfactory to hiB own c...
