HOSPITAL May Still Come To Liverpool When all hopes of a District Hospital being built in Liverpool had almost vanished, particularly after the abor- tive and ineffectual delegation to the Ministry of Health a scant month ago, local residents had become more or less reconciled to the fact that the hospital was to be erected in Fairfield. One body though, Liverpool Ratepayers and Citizens' Association, never gave up all hope. Months of pressure on the dis- trict member, on the moribund Hospital Board, on the Hospitals Commission and on the local council, by letter, by tele- phone and by oral advocacy, have at flast won the day, and it can now be confidently stated that a 100-bed hos- pital will be erected soon in Liverpool. This hospital will ultimately have a capacity of 200 beds. We believe that an official communica- tion to the above effect has been for- warded to the chairman of the Liver- pool Hospital Board for public dissem- ination. As a boy he received a moderate education at the old Blue School here, when he was only thirteen, he was apprenticed ' as a draper to a Mr. Anthony Hordern who had a clothing shop on Brickfield Hill, Sydney. When Mr.Bull was twenty, fend out of his time with Mr. Hordern, he started in business as a draper on Viis own account, also at Brickfield Hill. After eleven years of successful trading there, he retired until 1880, when he established the Commercial Stores at Liverpool. In the meanwhile he had always exhibited a lively interest in local and Governmental axairs. In 1873 he was gazetted a justice of the peace.
