It is our painful duty to record thn death of Mr. William Hamilton, son of Mr. John Hamilton, of Mount Murray, near Robertson, which *wl occurrence took place at his fnther'a residence on Thursday night, 3*tn ul timo. Dr, Wilson, of Robertson, was called in, and found deceaard suffering from an affection of the heart. Dr. Terry, of 'Eiama, was su'tsequcntly sent for, and despite tbe mrdical skill of both Drs. deceased gradually got worse and died as above stated. Hittegong. A municipal election was held *m Saturday to fill the extraordinary vacancy in the council caused by the. resignation of Mr. J. Hilder. There' were two candidates, Messrs. J. J. Murray and W. Westbnry, the former being elected by 66 votes to 63. The wool dip in the Albury district for tbe season 1896-7 totalled 26,703, a falling off of 3870 bales. A lad named Madden, 11 years of age, in loading a gun to shoot a bird near Wellington, let tbe hammer slip, and shot bis little brother through the back of the bead, killing htm instantly. Three boys were fined at Sydney last week for playing at 'a game, called cricket,' to the danger of passera-by. A species of tick, distinot from the cattle tick, has been found near Maclean.
