WATER SUPPLY AND PUBLIC HiL PROPOSALS DISCUSSED AT WELL ATTENDED PUBLIC'' MEETING Council's Action Endorsed Some 60 citizens attended the public meeting held on ,Thursday night last for tlhe purpose of dis cussing the . erection of Memorial Hall and the position as regards the water supply. The Mayor (Ald. W. R. Holden) presided. The Town Clerk: gave a statement on the water supply position, most of which had been published .in the issue of the 28th May. Ald. Boyd said he had been on many deputations +to try to get a water supply for Kiama. Proposals had been made to first the Water Board and then tlhe Jerrara Scheme which was conside?red too costly. A proposal to raise the wall of the present dam was =turned down 'be cause new concrete would not stick to old ,concrete. He. favoured the Council's owii sche??' ?me for a £108,000 dam , on Fountaindale Creek but this, was turned down by the Departmental. BOY SCOUTS On Monday night, 26th May,, the 1st Albion Park Group received an official visit from Area and District Officials. The Area Commissioner, Mr. C'. F. T. Jackson, was accom- panied by the District Commissioner, Mr. C. Duncan, the District Presi dent Mr. H. Degotardi, the District Secretary Mr. A. l.Mathieson and Executive Comnmittee Member Mr. D. Nock. The party was welcomed by the Group Scoutmaster, Rev. T. Gee, and members of the Group Committee. The Cubs, in charge of Mrs. L. Brown,, and the Scouts in charge of Mr. A. Inskip, gave several displays of tlheir work, and demonstrated that Albion Park Group is developing along good lines and will soon be a Group to be reckoned with ini Dis triht and Area competitions.
