Football. ' OAKLEIGH v. BRUNSWICK JUNlORS. VICTORY FOR THE LOCALS. FAST AND CLEVER FOOTBALL. By "Follower'. Oakleigh followed up their bril liant victory over l:verleigh on Saturday last by defeating the re doubtable Brunswick Juniors by 3 points Clean, fast and clever football was a bright feature of the contest between the above teams on the local ground on King's Birthday. Taking the play ail-round there was very little to choose between the teams, save that Oakleigh kicked goals where the opposing side only got behinds. In the first quarter it looked as thounh the Bruntwickites would run out fairly easy winners. T''htv picked out their players better, their hand balling was good and they only failed in goal getting ; but in the second quarter Oaks came on with a rush and played like a premier ship team-bringing back memories of olden times. They outclassed their opponents in almost every position-the centre line (Foster, Ethell., Cummins) being par ticularly prominent. Ii. Tait,...

CLAYTON v. DANDENONG. A GREAT TUSSLE. Dandenong win by 1 point. [Newspaper Article] — Oakleigh and Caulfield Times Mulgrave and Ferntree Gully Guardian — 13 June 1914

CLAYTON v. DANDENONG. A GREAT TUSSLE. Dandenong win by 1 point. The meceting of these teams on Saturday last produced the best and most evenly contested match that has ever been witnessed at Clayton and Iesulted in a win for the visitors by the narrow margin of 1 point. Clayton were dis tinctly unlucky to be beaten, as they hit the post on three occas ions. The final scores were : Dandenong-S goals 9 behinds Clayton-S goals S behinds Goal-kickers: Clayton - Tyns ley (3), Aivar (2). Gobbi, Mc Gill and Richardson. Where all played so well it would be invidious to make dis tinctions, but with those men tioned above, O'M eara, Patterson (whose high marking was a fea ture of the game), McAlpin and W, V. Beard were probably the best for Clayton. This afternoon Clayton play Springvaie at Springvale, when a good game is expected. OAKLEIGH v. EVERLEEGH. I OARLEIGuI Witr As both teams had so far not won a match a keen contest for supremacy was anticipated by the good attendance of supporters who attended. This was not the case, Everleigh evidently thought that they would " wipe the floor" with Oakleigh with their fifteen men, good and true, but their expecta tions where conmpletel~ upset, as Onkleigh played all over them fro:-u the bounce. In the second quarter Oakleigh kicked S goals, 3 behinds to nil, which was a fine performance.
