The Telegraph. FRIDAY, 12TH OCTOBER, 1860. [Newspaper Article] — Twofold Bay and Maneroo Telegraph — 12 October 1860

Ihc SfUgrxpfc. FRIDAY, 12tii OCTOBER, 1860. For some considerable time past tlio trade and commerce of Eden had been somewhat re tarded. if not absolutely paralysed, by the want of drays and teams for the purpose of forwarding to Kiandra and the other gold fields in the interior, the vast amount of stores and merchandize accumulated in our warehouses; for, although most liberal rates were advertized by the merchants of Eden and Mcrimbula, still, up to the present week, few drays have made their appearance to re lieve our overstocked market. This unwilling ness ou the part of dray-owners to take load ing from this place to Kiandra, had boeu caused by the exaggerated accounts as to the slate of the roads, and the unfounded state ments circulated by designing persons, that it was impossible fur drays or teams to make the ascent of some of the hills on the route. In this state of things our merchants saw that*' if the mountain would not come to Ma homet, Mahomet must go to the mountain,...
