Sydney Intelligence, Sailed on the 23d of March, on a cruise to New Zealand, H. M. brig Satellite, Captain Currie, R. N. Passenger, Capt. McDougall, 48th Regiment.     Captain Edwardson, of the Snapper,     brings from New Zealand two chiefs, one of whom is accompanied by his wife. One of them is a youth about 16; and the other is 30 years old. The name of the latter is James Caddel, an Englishman by birth, and whose history is briefly as fol- lows :-In 1807, or thereabouts, the ship Sydney Cove, a sealer out of this port, was cruising off the Bay of Islands, and had either stationed or dispatched a boat's-crew, consisting of five hands and a boy (James Caddel, the present chief) to one of the islands, in quest of seals. The boat was taken by the savages in the vicinity of the Southern Cape, and the hapless men, with the exception of Caddel, were killed and eaten. From the Sydney Gazette, April 10. Among the caufes that came before the Governor's Court on Friday last, none were entitled more to attention than the following :-It was a cafe wherein the plaintiff was a female, late a convict (et vant to the defendant, an innkeeper in the town of Parramatta. The plaintiff had been taken from the factory ihortly fubfe quent to her arrival in the colony by the defendant. In this employ ihe continued five years, having attained in that period a very good character as to industry, honesty, &c. The amount fought to be recovered in the action before the Court was laid at £50, for wages during the period of fer vice, and for money lent. The plaintifPs Solicitor accounted for this furn as due to his client thus :-The defendant her mas- ter, told her ihe ihould have £l per an- num for the first two years, and for every subfequent year «£lO. The following notice was received yef terday, via New York, of the overland Arctic expedition : *« Montreal, August 17.-Through the politenefs of a gentleman, who has just arrived in this city from a distant post in the North West Territory, we have re- ceived intelligence that the expedition which was fitted out by direction of the Admiralty, in the fummer of 1819, under the orders of Lieutenant Franklin, was on its return to Hudfon's Bay. The expedi- tion advanced as near to the Copper Mine River in the following year as the coming winter would permit ; and in the fpring of the last year, having embarked the canoes which they had carried overland with them, they defcended that river, until it difcharg ed itfelf into the Hyperborean or Frozen Ocean. A private letter in a Morning Paper, dated Vienna, Sept. ¿50, fupplies the fol- lowing account of young Napoleon :-" 1 had laft night an opportunity of feeing, for the firft time of my life, the fon of that man whofe turbulent ambition loft him the greateft empire in the world, and whofe career will be ' forgotten only, when the extraordinary events aflociated with it ceafe to become matter of aftonifhment to fuc ceeding generations. Young Napoleon was at the Theatre, and fat in the fame box with his Royal Grandfire and the Emprefs, but in a feperate compartment, where he was attended by a middle-aged individual, who appeared to be his preceptor. Sitting Magistrate-G. F, Read, Esq. Yesterday morning His Imperial Russian Majesty's Discovery-ships, the Creuzer, Captain Lazaroff, and the Ladoga, Capt. Lazaroff (brother to the Commander), put into our port to refresh, having been three months from Rio de Janiero. The Deputy Judge Advocate of Van Diemen's Land returned to town on Wed- nefday, after holding a Sittings of the Lieutenant Governor's Court at that Set- tlement. Mount Wellington exhibited itself early on Monday morning entirely covered with fnow, and has remained io throughout the week, the weather having been very wet and cold. _ Died-On Monday morning last, after a short illness, in the 41st year of his age, Capt.     William Blyth, formerly commander of the ship Windham, and for some years a consider- able proprietor of land and stock in this Colony.
