TO THE WORKING MEN OF KILMORE. PER FAVOUR OF THE FREE PRESS. [Newspaper Article] — Kilmore Free Press and Counties of Bourke and Dalhousie Advertiser — 10 August 1865

TO THE WORKING MEN OF KIL-   MORE. PER CAVOUR OF THE FREE PRESS. Sir,---In reply to that currish snarl of a working man in your contemporary's issue of Friday last, with a view to raise a war cry for an election, I beg to state that I am also a working man, and feel the natural indignation   which must be felt by anyone unwilling to be lectured to a purpose. There is, however, this difference between your " working man " and your contemporary's, whilst he is working hard to pull down, and destroy, I am attempting to build up and support utilize.   I will say nothing more about your com- temporary's working man's ,advice to his com-   poe!s, than to say it is all bosh, and that he knows it to be bosh. Do you not perceive, fellow workmen, that Bossenechas been the only one with pluck   to fight the battle of right, and now comes forward with the ???????????? of a true Englishman to vindicate his conduct before his townsm...

MISCELLANEOUS EXTRACTS. [Newspaper Article] — Kilmore Free Press and Counties of Bourke and Dalhousie Advertiser — 10 August 1865

MISCELLANEOUS EITRACTS. The Border Post states that " on 3Mondav the Albury Customs officer made a seizure of two drays, drawn by six horses, and laden with sheets of bark, for Mr. Driscoll, of the Bridge Inn. The seizure was made for non- payment of the duty of 1s per package. One of the drays belonged to Widow King, of Wodonga, and the other to a teamster   named Allen. As it was a case of great hardshsip for the widow (who could have no cognisance of what was going on), and as there were other circumstances which in-   duced the local officer to report favourably   of the case, the head of the Customs depart ment in Sydney has permitted the restora of the goods on Driscoil paying the costs of the levy, &c. The Bendigo Advertiser of Saturday has the following:-"Yesterday Ir.3'Laughlan the police magistrate, issued a warrant for r the arrest of Mr. J.H. H. Dobinson, post master, who was charged, on the information of Mr. Vans, inspecto...

NEW ZRAI AND. (nox rH st £nTonrsro IE uL , ito. S) 1 SHItAUCKLAND, Jt-r 23. The event which attracts much attention at this moment is the departure of the Auck. land members for the Assembly at Welling ton, which took place to-day. Everyone here - looks upon the issue of this experimernt with great anxiety, as it was a serious <iuestion whether Auckland should send any more representatives to the Xe, Zealand Parlia ment. The r.ews of General Cameron's resigna tion and its acceptance by the home authori ties, received by the last ai?:l, has caused a great amount of excitement in this province. The .feeling in favour of General Cameron has become very markedly apparent, and the 1.roposai to present an address and a sword to the gallant general has been received with a fiv,,ur almost universal. I understand that the gnctr:? (Ilpre?ses himself deeply g.ati fled at the sa ong exprsssion of public feel. i:.g evo.e[ic by the announcement of his de parture. '1 he .aril des-atches...

THE CANADIAN QUESTION. [Newspaper Article] — Kilmore Free Press and Counties of Bourke and Dalhousie Advertiser — 17 August 1865

THE CANADIAN QUESTION. Thee onferences between the British Go vernment and the Canadian delegates are conlduded. The latter hare returned to their country tolerably well satisfied, and a des pth from Mr. Cardwell to Lord Monck gipes us an insight into the arrangements made. The colonies have received assurances of their complete liberty of action in what ever relates to themselves.
