Sheffield. [Newspaper Article] — Deloraine and Westbury Advertiser — 25 February 1911

Sheffield. Proposed Waler Scheme.-The Sheffield Ward Committee of the Kentish council met on Saturday last, and dealt with the proposed waler scheme for Shelfield. The matter was 'lilly gone into, and it was considered that the water from the site suggested by Mr Gould was not suitable for the purpose. It is understn.d, hr.wever, that Mr. Gould intended getting the supply fiom the Dasher, near Mr A. Wyatt's. Mr Gould, it is reported, is to again visit Sheffield, and report eff thepossibilty of getting a supply from the Dasher River between Mount Vandyke and Mount Claude, and as the catchment area is uninhabited,' there would be no fear of pollution, They would be brought down hy gravitation, and the pipes would be laid along the Claude icad all the way. If the waler is brought from this source, the scheme would be far from costly, as caiting,&c i would re cheap. Street Lighting.-Although the Kentish council has decided to light up tl e streets of Sheffield, nothing as yet li...
