The plan of Dr. Loomis, tbe inventor, is to telegraph from a high peak of the Rocky Mountains to the highest attainable peak of the Alps, at which point a tower is to be erected, on the top of which a hu?e mast is to be placed. GENERAL NEWS. —The Review and Examiner aaya; A little child of Thomas Tracy, residing on College street, Canonsbnrg, was so badly burned on Monday after noon of last week, by falling against the grate, daring tne temporary absence of the mother, that it died tbe next day. —Oar former fellow-townsman. Dr. A. J '. Ache? son, Jr., has removed from Kansas City, Mo., to Denison, Grayson county, Texas, the point of junction of the Texas Pacific and Leavenworth and Galveston roads. —Judge Daniel Smyser, of Norristown, while ona visit tohisson-in-lnw, David Wills, Esq., in Gettysburg, was stricken with paralysis, and died on the 12th inst. —A fire occurred on the morning of the 16th at the late residence of Edwin Forrest, in Philadelphia, which destroyed a portion of his library.
