THE ILLINOIS FREE TRADER - The Nrlk Western ItauHIarr It is to bo regretted that no arrange ment was made, in tlie lata treaty with England, for a settlement of the disputed boundary question in the Oregon country. Our claim to that whole territory is believed to be just ; yet the assertion of the right has been deferred until now a considerable portion of the country north of the Columbia rivet is occupied by the British. In course of time it may happen that a right, long waived, will be disputed and possession will be regarded as the best proof of a valid title. The fur trade is now carried on extensively by British companies : they have permanent establishments on the Columbia. Our own emigrants are wending their way to the regions beyond the Rocky Mountains ; and, such is the rapidity with which population increases in the West, when once the tide is set towards a particular quarter, that a few years may witness the organization of a regular government in Oregon country, under t...

f7 "wax-' THE ILLINOIS FREE TRADER: The Stanton (Va.) Spectator relates that a hungry jury at the late court in Halifax County, commenced a regular dance to the tune of 4 Whar did yon come from,' in their room, directly over the court, whereupon the', sheriff was immediatly sent by Judge Leih with orders to accommodate the jury with a permanent dancing room in the county jail, where they would be less liable to interruption in their frolic Albany Argus.
