POULTRY ] [Newspaper Article] — Ohio Farmer — 2 February 1907

There are those who are giving this work careful and accurate study and we believe that giving these results and figures will serve to increase the interest of others to such an extent that records will be kept more accurately during the coming season . One point upon which nearly all agree is the utter uselessness of constructing costly houses . The requisites are -dry . warm and well-ventilated quarters at the least expense , good birds properly and regularly fed and cared for , realizing that poultry raising must be considered...

1 GRANGE 1 [Newspaper Article] — Ohio Farmer — 2 February 1907

1 GRANGE 1 A CALL TO SERVICE . FROM T 11 H MASTER OF OHIO ORANGE . I haw just returned from attendance upon the national convention called in Washington , D . C . for Jan . 15-16 to promote Foreign Commerce and Transportation , or to promote our trade relations with other countries . The executive committee of the National Grange was called to meet in connection with the above convention , and the members of this committee were accorded seats as delegates . PastMaster Aaron Jones was given a place on the committee on resolutions . The convention turned out to he a ship subsidy affair , and a prolonged effort was made to secure the endorsement of the Subsidy Bill now pending in ¦¦ House of Representatives . It was conceded by nearly all that the failure Fbot - by llir-icl Hi . OD . HOME OF C . E . FOX , SECRETARY OF BRIGHTON , LORAIN CO ., O ., GRANGE . to endorse was due in large measure to the work and influence of the Grange committee . The bill is now before the House , and if en...

A Lazy Liver [Newspaper Article] — Ohio Farmer — 2 February 1907

A Lazy Liver May be only a tired liver , or a starved liver . It would bo a stupid as well as savage thing to beat a weary or starved man because he lagged In his work . So In treating tho lagging , torpid liver It ig a great mistake to lash It with strong drastic drugs . A torpid , liver is but an Indication of an Ill-nourished , enfeebled body whose organs aro weary with over work . Start with the stomach and allied organs of digestion and nutrition . Put them In working order and see how quickly your liver will become active . Dr . Pierce s Golden Medical Discovery has made many marvelous cures of liver trouble -by Its wonderful control of the organs of digestion and nutrition . It restores the normal activity of the stomach , increases the secretions of the blood-mak-ing glands , cleanses the system from poisonous accumulations , and so relieves the liver of tho burdens Imposed upon it by the defection of other organs . If you have bitter or bad taste In the morning , poor orfSf...

HOME OF MR . AND MRS . C . E . FOX . [Newspaper Article] — Ohio Farmer — 2 February 1907

HOME OF MR . AND MRS . C . E . FOX . The photo and house plans on the preceding page show the pleasant . convenient home of Mr . and Mrs . C . E . Fox of Brighton , Lorain Co ., O . They are good farmers , progressive and energetic ; active in the social life of their community , and persistent and enthusiastic Grange workers in their town and in the county Grange . It was largely through Mr . Fox s efforts that the Nov . 7 corn show , arranged by Brighton Grange , was a success . Mr . Fox thoroughly appreciates that farming is a science , a field for study , and studies the experiment stations work to adapt what they have discovered to his own needs . Mixed farming , with particular attention to the dairy , has been his line . He has recently been experimenting with alfalfa with promising results . Mrs . Fox s excellent household executive ability is a proverb among those who know her . She is a good cook and a delightful entertainer—a matron who loolceth well to the ways of her ho...
