A Journal Devoted to the Interests of Lincoln County. VOLUME 10. CARRIZOZO, LINCOLN COUNTY, NEW MEXICO, JUNE 18, 1909. NUMHKK 19 EFFECT UPON THE TAX RATE. In taking up the county scat removal question last week wc promised to deal later with the financial features involved, and suggested in our first article that there should he nothing to fright 'en taxpayers in the proposition. Wc showed that half of the levy that is now made for repairs on the old courthouse and jail would mote than pay the interest on lionds for a new courthouse and jail. Wc have the record for that assertion, and can show that for the past three years a levy of 1)4 mills have been made for the pur pose named. It docs not require the aid of a mathematician to as certain the saving of a levy of three-fourths of a mill as com- pared to 1 j mills. Nor docs any- one need to be told that the item for repairs can be dispensed with when we erect new and substan tial buildings. In other words a mill and a half which is ...
