WEEKLY BAZOO. ' TUESDAY, MAY 4. 1880. THE THEORY FIEND. The incident of a sodden death from causes unknown has brought the theory fiend to the surface once more mmI causes us to recall some of his ore noticeable peculiarities, as brought under observation in times The theory fiend is nothing without mystery, and scorns to broach a theory which is BOt startling. Simplicity something: of which he has an inborn horror, and he revels in complication as if it were his natural element. He ueeusaiong hn pain w iw i,ruu" ble until it widens into the impossible and he fails to discover the fact when he has left behind him the line of demarkation. Let us take the instance at home, to which allusion was first made above. A man mma ran nror and killed durint? a - l xr oae knew, or at leas, no one appeared who claimed to know, anything of the caase of the fatality, ibe engineer aissply saw a dark spot upon the track in front of him, hardly long enough revealed by the glare of the headlight for h...

The exposure of saan's badness and woman a guilt aaay nave the effect of thrusting into the face of some who are oo the borders of sin the consequences of stepping over the line, and so deter them before they can onlv say "too late." If, then, our columns have been unwillingly crowded with these stories of evil, it must be accepted as an evi deoce of an intention to promote that which is good. The age haa givea birth to a pa rental irreverence which is, is any light by which we may look at it, unpardonable. It is not alone that the yoaag uian that ha been imbued with the spirit of the age, never k peaks of his father but aa "the old nan," or "the gov ernor," and of his mother but aa "the old lady," or "the old woman." WEEKLY BAZOO. TUESDAY, MAY 11. 1880. EX MAYOR FAULHABER. The administration of the mayoralty which has just terminated was con ducted through two of the most event ful and prosperous years of Sedalia'a young life. The time demanded a man well suited for the position ; for tune favored us by sending him in the person of Mr. Faulhaber. Wish ing neither to draw an invidious dis tinction nor to decry the merits of any ot his predecessors in office, we Hay that in our opinion Mayor Faulhaber was perhaps the best chief executive Sedalia has ever had. Immediately upon his inauguration he made the interests of the city his own, and he served her with a single ness of purpose which was as com mendable as it was unusual. There was no call made upon him by duty, whether it was either small or great, to which his response not one of eager alacrity. He neither shrank from the responsibilities of his greater du ties nor endeavored to evade the leaser annoyances tucident to his position. In those ...

WEEKLY JBAZOO. SEOALIA, Mo.. TUESDAY, MAY 25, 1880. Grant is on top in Illinois. Why don't that 3250 man come to the surface? Whittaker now says he is sorry he clipped them. The G.-.says the ticket will be Grant and Sherman. Courtney should go into his shell not his racing shrll and stay there. .John A. The "Black Crookt"as performed in a Ieadville theatre, lasts until four o'clock in the morning. But drinks are sold lietween the acts, and those convivial intervals average an hour each. Hammering persistently upon the same nail is a method of clinching which is always effective. The St. Louis Time has already created al most an incipient boom for Morrison in certain sections.
