It seems that Mr. Or tega's extensive business inter ests required all of his time, so he could not make the race. Newsy Notes of the Southern Part of the County Special Correspondence. The thresher is running in Round Valley and its manager expects a run of six thousand bushels. In the early 90's the valley produced sixty thousand bushels in one season. Much grain has been ruined in Greer bv the heating of stacks, as it seemed impossible to get the bundles -dry and the farmers "took chances" on stacking it any way to their sorrow. Joseph Jepson has a steam well-driving outfit at work on his Alpine ranch in search for artesian water. He hopes to succeed there and later have test wells dug in Nutrioso, Round Valley, St. Johns and at Hunt. Dry land farming is being talked up a great deal in the south end of Apache County right now.
