THE BEWITCHMENTS OF THE WIZARD. —As a gratifying matter of course, the intelligent aud gullible citizens of Marvsville filled the theatre to overflowing, last evening. All that had been promised of the renowned Professor Anderson was duly accomplished. His wondrous feats caused their inevitable quantum of bewilderment, perplexity and admiration. His powerful and earnest denunciation and striking illustration of the fallacy of spiritualism caused its accustomed amount of commendation aud appiause. The exhibition was as completely satisfactory a? could possibly have been desired ; and the "Wizard of the North'" maintained his high reputation a3 the first of Magicians, and the best extempore stage talker of the age. His very clever son and daughters, also fulfilled all that the APPE AL aud its sister papers.had given assurance of their doing. We have little need for saying that the entire exhibition was a complete success, and that the Professor and his audience retired from the theatr...

A Trans-Montnne Telegraph. [Newspaper Article] — Marysville Daily Appeal — 10 February 1860

A Trans-Montnne Telegraph. We predict much good as the result of the Pacific Railroad Convention. The fact that all the Pacific States and Territories—not excepting Utah and Arizona—have had representation in that body, gives an earnest of such unity of action, fw cannot fail having great influence in securing the speedy action Of Congress in granting to these far western parts of the Union, their oft repeated prayers. While- nV. the States beyond the Rocky Mountains are in constant and momentary comm mication by telegraph lines, someofwhichare quite as extensive as one connecting tiie Pacific with the Atlantic States would be, we n:v. from lack of well directed enterprise and legislative action, lagging behind the spirit of the age, in isolation from ...
