Talk public improvements until something good has de- veloped therefrom. The house demanded the res- ignation of Speaker Kennedy, but that distinguished gentleman heeded not the demands and went about his business as if nothing had happened. Supplement to the Aspermont Star, March 18, 1909. Resolutions of Respect. Whereas, God in his infinite Wisdom saw fit, on March 3rd, of this year to take from our midst our friend and brother, Sanders Avery, and to take him to that "Home that is everlasting and fadeth not away; and, Whereas, he was an old and respected citizen of our town and community, and he was also a Deacon of our church, and, at the time of his death was a true and consistent member of the Aspermont Missionary Baptist Church, and we shall miss his presence among us, and will no more have the benefit of his fatherly advice; and Whereas, Wre mourn his death; Now therefore, Be it resolved by the Aspermont Baptist Church in Conference assembled, that we humbly submit to the will of "Him Who doeth all things well;" that we strive to! live as our departed brother has< lived, so that, when the summon ! comes we can iay that we are ¡ ready to go, and can calmly lie 1 down to sleep that sleep that knows no waking on ...

HARRISON TELEPHONE NUMBER 13 Entered at the Postoffice at Asper- mont, Texas, as second-class mail matter. The jury in the Carmack mur- der case exonerated John Sharpe and hung-up in the Cooper cases. The eastern papers continue to "romp" on west Texas, but our observations force us to make the statement that there are hun- dreds of successful farmers living in Western Texas who never owned a foot of land in their lives until they came to this county, but who are now on easy street. This statement cannot be successfully contradicted. Fort Worth gets the Cattle- men's convention again in 1910. The Fort is said to be the best convention city in the state. Other towns of less import than Aspermont are planning a clean up day, why not our people set apart a day for this purpose? Yes, let's clean up by all means. In Stonewall county cotton is still being picked and ginned, and it will har...
