The Advertiser. PUBLISHED EVERY TUESDAY, THURSDAY AND SATURDAY MORNING. Bairnsdale, Saturday, April 8, 1882. [Newspaper Article] — Bairnsdale Advertiser and Tambo and Omeo Chronicle — 8 April 1882

The Advertiser. PUBLISHED EVEIY TUESDAY, TIIIURBDAY AND SATURDAY ?M0oNuso. Bairnsdale, Saturday, April 8. 1882. THERE can be no disguising the fact that expressions of dissatisfaction were freely indulged in by the public respect ing the arrangements in connection with the late Agricultural Show. While admitting that there was too much room for complaint, we cannot concur in the general anathematisation of the commit tee and their officers which took place, and we aver, with every confidence of being supported in our assertion, that were the residents of the district at large to take thatdeep interest in the welfare of the Bairnsdalo Pastoral and Agricul tural Society that self-interest should prompt them to do, not only would thel arrangements: be more complete, satis factory, and convenient, but the exhibi tions annually -held would be far more succesful. The public, like the Egyp tians of old, are hard taskmasters-they would fain haveo the I Israelites make bricks withoit - straw...

ORIGINAL COIIRRESPONDENCE. JUDGING AT THE LATE AGRICUL. TURAL sHOW. TO THE EDITOR OF THE ADVERTISER. Sir,--WVill you allow me to make a few re marks in reference to the judging in class 0 (stud horse best calculated to perpetuato the breed of good roadsters). Three animals were'entered, viz., Gembrook, Contraband and Fireworks. A difference of opinion he. twecen the judges having.a risen . asto the merits of two horses, vie., Contraband and Fireworks-Gembrook being virtually put aside-an umpire is requested, whose duty, ,I think you will agree with me, sir, was to de cide between the merits of the two horses in dispute; but instead, he selects the animal disnarded in tlie first instance. Two more gentlemen are indiscriminately called upon to assist, without any particularqualifications for the office that I am aware of, beyond oite of the gentlemen having a reptited partiality for horses of a certain color, no matter inI what mould they may be cast, and the result of their matured j...
