Annual Hospital Effort. FORM TO BE DECIDED UPON ON MONDAY EVENING NEXT. [Newspaper Article] — Inglewood Advertiser — 20 March 1914

Annual Hospital Effort; FORM TO BE DECIDED tJPON ON MONDAY EVENING NEXT. There was only a fair attendance of gentlemen at the-Town Hall on'Tuesdity evening in response to the meeting con vened by the Mayor of those desirous of assisting in the annual effort in aid of the hospital. The Mayor presided. A brief informal discussion took place as to the form the effort should take — whether a sports meeting should be .held, or whether a thorough canvass of the district for subscriptions should be made as was the case last year. The discuEsion was indeed brief, as the meeting wai unanimously in favor of the latter course heine adonted. The meagre attendance was adversely criticised, and it was pointed out that many who had previously given as the reason for their objection to help .in the hospital effort that .sports were held at which racing was conducted, and were now afforded an opportunity of joining in without any sacrifice of principle, were very conspicuous by their , absence. The Inglewood Advertiser, FRIDAY, MARCH 20, 1914. [Newspaper Article] — Inglewood Advertiser — 20 March 1914

ftfyt §ng{efo0oi> &b&*rtiser, FKIDAY, MARCH 20. 1914. With the filling of cl inia by gravitation from the Waransta Channel, the watm scarcity in tho Calivil distiict has bean le lieved, and a temporary lull in the stoim of abuse which has betm heaped upon the members of the Water Commission, collec tively and individually, is noticeable. In the past feiv years, however, a spiiit of rebellion against the impositions of the Commission has been steadily growing, and the time is fast1 approaching when a general movement will' be made to obtain redress from the grievances which Jiave been like thorns in the sides of. residents for bo long. In this enlightened age it appears ridiculous that people should have to pay—and pay heavily—for what they do not get, yet such is the position that exists in portions of the old Loddon United Water Trust area. Heavy _water rates are charged, but no •upply, even when there is actual necessity, is given. Katurully this treatment, is i...
