Bendigo to Castlemaine Road. COUNTRY ROADS BOARD AT WORK. Satisfaction was expressed at the last meeting ofthe Bendigo City Council at the intimation of the Country Roads Board that the survey of the main road between Bendigo and Castle maine wus completed and that the contract was to be finished within five months from the time it was let. About 11 miles of road would be made. Cr. Beebe considered the intima tion most gratifying. The con struction of this road would mean a good -thing to Bendigo. Cr Wilkie: For the motor cars. Cr Beebe: Motorists will come to Bendigo and spend money here. At present they avoid Bendigo on account of this road. CrDunstan also expressed gratification at the prospect of the road being attend ed to immediately. The city sur veyor (Mr S. G. Moore) said the road between Bendigo and Castle maine, when completed, would probably be the best portion on the whole route to Melbourne.
