Scribner's Magazine. [Newspaper Article] — The Sydney Wool and Stock Journal — 3 February 1899

Scribner's Magazine. The January number of this serial is to hand from the Australian agents, Messrs. Gordon and Goteh. As usual, the letterpress and illus trations leave nothing to be desired, and the matter composing the various items is up to tho usual standard of interest. Reminiscences of tho late war occupy ft prominent, though decreasing, position, as compared with previous numbers, but the "Rough Riders," "The British Army Manu-uvres," " A Ride Into Cuba; for the Red Cross," and "With tho Sirdar," are representative of the demand for military adventures on the part of our Ameri can cousins. Tho other articles are composed of stories, " Letters of Robert Louis Steven son," poems, and other items of general interest.

Never Say Die. [Newspaper Article] — The Sydney Wool and Stock Journal — 3 February 1899

Never Say Die, This delightful little fable, quoted in the Irish IIomcMcad, has a moral so evident that it does not need a pointer. " Once upon a time two frogH-a hopelessly pessimistic frog, and a bright, cheery, sanguine, hopeful frog-for some reasons unexplained tumbled into a pail of milk. The pessimist at once gave up all hope, and determining that it was not worth while even trying, promptly sank to the bottom, and, sad to say, was drowned. The hopeful one, on the other hand, thought that it was worth while making an effort, and paddled hopofully round and round all night in the milk, and in the morning was found quite Kafe, and sitting upon a little dry pat of butter !
