MOTHERS' DAY , MA _^ [Newspaper Article] — Ithacan — 2 May 1927
MOTHERS DAY , MA _^ With Mothers Day . onl y a few days away , our _thoughts seem to _turn with a special intensity of affection toward the one woman _who , m matter what we may _become in the eyes of the _world , will _always love us , trust us and believe the best of us . The following poem is reprinted by _permission of the Brooklyn _Eagle . YOUR MOTHER An angel dropped you from a star When you were in Heaven , not so long ago—You must have been afraid to fall so far , — ( Twas several thousand million miles _, or so !) For you were crying when you came to rest Upon the softness of your Mother s breast . The angels seemed so far away , — Your baby hands stretched lonesomely for God—No longer could you sing , and laugh , and play Among the clouds where cherub footsteps trod . Then suddenly your tears gave way to bliss , — Joy banished grief beneath your Mother s _kiss . Like the _kiss of God that soft caress Lay on your brow ; the blue and shining _skies Were not more blue , more ...

"WOULD'S . T HAVE A CAR ?' [Newspaper Article] — Ithacan — 2 May 1927
WOULDS . T HAVE A CAR ? We ve _heard a slight rumor in regard to allowing students at I C . M . the privilege of keeping automobiles . In fact , it is quite the s _, iil > ject for _discussion ( next to China !) in almost every _college in th . country . Th Pathfinder says : _Colleges and _other _schools are having _quite a to-do over the u _; _. e ol autos by _students . More autos than ever _ are owned by students . It _ii no uncommon thing for a student or _several _students _, to buy a delapidale _i second-hand car and run it for all it is worth , _even in a _reckless _wa ; since no great amount of money is involved . "HOW ABOUT THAT ?" [Newspaper Article] — Ithacan — 2 May 1927
HOW ABOUT THAT ? Well , what do you think of _the Chinese _situation ? Mo response , Very well , —what do you think about poor Cornelius Vanderbilt , Jr . ! His papers failed and he is $3 , 000 , 000. in debt . ( Sounds like a chance for the Endowment Fund !) But just imagine that ! Of course , Cornelius . has studied dramatics , ( hasn t he ?) , at any rate he knows how to arouse public sympathy . One posed photo shows him doing his own kitchen work . We know it is posed because the way young Junior is going _about his culinary duties wouldnt accomplish much . But wait ! Did you see the picture of the Vanderbilt Kitchen which exhibits _such objects as a cocktail shaker , and a case of Canada dry ? Naughty ! Naugh ty ! And then—Cornelius mentions how he is struggling for existence in a Fifth Avenue apartment . W _^ hat with selling magizine articles right and left , and writing movie scenarios on request , we guess he ought to be able to _exist until he comes into the family fortune...
