AGKICUl.TL'HK. iii War to Hi a i 1 1 i Hut few people, comparatively understand how to blanket a horse to protect him from contracting cold. We frequently re the blanket Folded double, and laid ucrnbj the rump and a part of the ani mal back, leaving those parts of the body that need protection entirely ex putted to cold stornii and chilling winds. Those parts of the body of a horse which surround the lungs require the benefit t a blanket In preference to his flanks and rump. When we are exposed to a current of cold air to guard against any injury from contracting cold we shield ur shoulders, neck, chest and back. If these parts be kept protected, the lower part of the body will endurd u degree of cold far more intense, without any injury to the body, than If the lungs were not warm with suitable covering. The same thing holds in the protection of horses, The blanket should cover the neck, withers and shoulders, and be brought around the breast, and be buttoned or buckled as closely ...

40BIOUIH7BE Kkedixo Bran wiiii Mm..-For win ter feeding, where cattle are Kept In tails and i . iv.lv fed, there is no bet ter divisor for corn weal than wheat bran ItU alio cheap, and turnlaliea what the corn meal lacks. When cuttle are fed 0:1 corn meal at the principal food for lattfiilnjr, It I- apt to cloy if fed In too large quantities, hence our best feeders are in the habit of tiling bran as the chea)cst and best means for rendering the meal fed more digestible. In this each feeder must use discretion as to the proper quantity to be used. One-quarter of the bulk ol feed In bran to three-quarters of corn meal may be taken as a good general rule, to be var ied according to circumstances. For working-horses fed on cut-feed, this proportion will also be found to be near ly right. For horses doing fast work, oats fed whole are of course the best possible feed. In winter, for driving horses, about one quarter the weight of the feed may be good sound corn, mixed with the oats. Wher...
