Hays City Free Press. HAYS CITY, KAN 3. CANADA'S NEW TOY. The germ of the Canadian navy is rapidly developing into a lively or ganism. The cruiser Rainbow. It la announced, will soon start from Ports mouth for the Pacific coast of Canada after having been thoroughly over hauled and Inspected under the au thority of the British Admiralty. The cruiser Niobe will leave Portsmouth for Halifax. Each warship will carry a full complement of British officers, who will serve in the Canadian navy for two years and a "skeleton" crew, of wnlch the members will be engaged for five years, says Toronto Globe. A rat got tangled up In one of the dynamos which supply power for the great blast furnace mill of the United State Steel corporation at Gary, Ind., says Louisville Courier-JournaL It re quired several hours to separate the rat's remains from the dynamo and in the meantime the corporation was los ing money at the rate of a thousand dollars a minute. The city department of public health gives a timely and needed warning to those leaving the city for their vaca tions to avoid places where there are many flies. Those who follow thi3 ad vice will avoid places which are un cleanly, which allow food and garbage to be so exposed as to attract and feed the flies, says the Philadelphia Press.
