Benefit concert j Three area resident*, Mr*. Eleanor Coolidge of 5068 Argus, a junior music major at Occidental College; Min Janet McCreery, daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Louis R. McCreery of 5361 Candace PI., a freshman at the college; and Danny M. Rye. son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert O. Rye of 50*4 Eaton St., also a freshman, will be taking part in a benefit concert given by the Occidental College choir and band in Thome Hall on Wednesday, May 6, at 8:15 pjn. Madrigals and contemporary selections will be sung by the 96-voice choir under the direction of Howard Swan, and flute and timpani solos will be featured by members of the 49piece band, conducted by Felix E. State College to stage Look Back in Anger' THE The controversial play, "Look Back in Anger," by angry young British playwright John Osborne, will be presented by drama students at California State College at Los Angeles April 39, 30 and May 1, 2, at 8:30 p.m. in the campus Arena Theatre. The play received a startled public response when first produced lii England and later in New York because of its un- orthodox treatment of traditional mores. Hie production is a graduate thesis project by drama student Sandy Monroe who is also responsible for costuming and make-up. A cast of five faces a "taxing dramatic assignment,” says Assistant Professor of Drama, Maris Übans, “for the characters are strong and require Intense emotional involvement." TOM TRY ON in the title role and Ramy Schneider are among the stars in Otto Preminger's "The Cardinal" now playing at the Highland Theatre in Panavisien and Technicolor.

'EI Milagro' in third week The three-act comedy. "El Milagro,” began the third week of its run yesterday at Padua Hills Theatre. Set in the region of southwestern Tamaulipas, home of the Huasteca Indians in Mexico, the play is a blending of modern ideologies with those of a more ancient culture. Songs and dances of the ares, a* well a* those to San Ysldro, patron saint of the Mexican farmer, are featured in this Spring production, now in it* premiere run. Long Beach Freeway It's time to stop, look, and question Editorials A case of freeway jitters seems to be sweeping South Pasadena, Pasadena, and other foothill communities, and threatens to lap over into El Sereno and Highland Park. Out of a confusion of charges and counter charges (“don’t clobber me, clobber him”) there seems one sensible thing to do; Persuade our state highway officials to delay any new decisions pertaining to the Long Beach freeway extension. Give us a chance to start all over by asking if this freeway is necessary. In its master plan for freeways, the California legislature authorized construction of a freeway from Long Beach to the foothill area at La Canada. The problem is how to get there, and our concern is what the engineers propose to do with the freeway as it passes through our city.
