St. Loris, March 26th. ... ..Special despatches from Washington to New York papers are still filled with rumors about the evacuation of Sampter, from which it may be inferred that the matter is not yet settled. The latest rumor is that Col. tamon has been sent to the Fort by the President, with the ord#r to Major Anderson for its evacuation, in case Col. I.amon shall find, af ter careful inspection, that evacuation is unavoida' j ble. If not, he is not to deliver the order. ....It is also stated that on Saturday the Cab inet had under consideration despatches from Lieut. £lemmer, who states that unless supplied with j provisions soon he will have to abandon Fort Pickens Gen. Still Later. St. Louis, April Ist. ....The Pony Express arrived last Friday. The news brought is that New Mexico has seceded The frontier forts were being seized, and U. S. troops informed that their presence was not necessary. Col. Fauntf.ir«»y, commander, intended to defend Fort Union if attacked by State troops. ....Arizona also seceded, March 18th, and will *ith New Mexico, attach themselves to Texas. .....United States troops were being sent off from all parts of the Southern States. ....As a consequence, on the frontiers of New Mexico and Texas, the Indians had commenced dep redations, and murdering all that they could lay hands on. ....Nothing new regarding Forts Sumpter and Pickens. They are probably evacuated. ....No appointm enti# made for the Pacific Coast, when the Pony left. ... Tom Corwin is Minister to Mexico, in Weller's place. ....Chief Justice Shaw, of Massachusetts, is dead. He had no superior upon the bench in his own State, and hardly one in the United States. ....
