E. H. CTJSHIHG, Editor. wednesda y, september 8, 1858. jg^The extraordinary heat of this sum- mer has been generally remarked in this State. It is absolutely certain that the av- erage temperature has been at least four degrees higher than has ever before been remarked. Itia also said by the weather- wise that a very hot summer is followed by the early advent of winter. In 1839, old reaidenters will remember it was something the same. That summer was the hottest known up to that time. The first real nor- ther appeared then on the 10th of Septem- ber. This year it appeared on the 28th of August. We anticipate an early frost fol- lowed by a mild but long continued winter. The temperature of the past week as been an improvement on the previous weeks, as follows: Sept. 1 92° S * 93 S 3 - 92 S 4 86 S 90 SE e" 87 s 7 1 -84 SE Yesterday morning we had a south east rain which came damp and drizzly1 and lasted all the Jday.
