Haynes Ty and Rayshon Davis moved to Wylie five years ago. When it was time for summer track, Davis was surprised to find that he would have to lake his daughter to Garland to participate in a program because there was nothing {Ivailable in this area. After some consideration, he decided that Wylie had too many runners not to run. Believing he would have the numbers to support such a program, he met with city leaders and the Wylie Flyers were born. The program, now in its third sea- son, enrolled 25 children and youth in that first year. Last year Davis had one hundred participants and this year he has edged up over the 100 mark. Haynes Little League umpires, Rick Williams and Ronnie Phelps, have received a special invitation, an invitation offered to a very few individuals. They will have the honor of calling Little League baseball games in the state tournament in Waco this summer. They have been umpiring games together for more than 15 years. For anyone who has seen Williams and Phelps in action, news of their being selected for the state tournament comes as no surprise. They are undoubtedly some of the best umpires around. They are friendly to parents and >ther spectators, encouraging to the players and coaches, and unquestionably dedicated to the game. Rick Williams One of the first things people notice about Williams when he is behind the plate is the way he talks to the kids, giving advice and pointers. Williams, who works as an instructor for the Department of Public Safety, has been i...

"Anyone who is anyone, plays it." Against a former No. 10 player in the nation, who had previously defeated him soundly, Harrison stayed with him for three sets, and had a chance to win at the end.
