Personal. It will be remembered that the Tocumwal branch of (he M.U.I. OOF. lodge forwarded to each of their members on active setvicc a "Xuias billy", and also a woollen scarf, the latter being knitted by Mrs Boyle. Mr \V. Currle, secret ary, received the first acknowledge ment of the gifis on Saturday, when he received a very Interesting letter from K. Roy Godden, who wrote under date of February 4H1, from St. Aubln, Belgium. The writer was warmly appreciative of the woollen scarf, whlchdic found very useful 011 the first evening after Its arrival when it was snowing hard. He mentioned that the billy had not arrived however. Mr Godden mentions some interesting things in his letter. Her (expected to arrive back in Aussie about August. For some reason or other Tocum wal appears to be badly managed by the shire as regards nuisance Inspection", and scarcely a meeting of.that body passes but what there is u long list of .complaints uver the lack of supervision. . The fact is, that the inspector resides at Berri gan, at the.noi th end of the shiie, and his rare visits to Tocuimval are made mainly to collect the sanitary rates. As Cr Davies remarked last Monday, it would be belter to dis pense with the inspector ami make other means of collecting the rates, if no baiter satisfaction cau be ob tained.
