GLADSTONE. (FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) So it seems that we were right in our conjecture that Walsh had been beaten by his opponent,—a circumstance which   had not become known to us at the date of my last communication. The small   majority attained by Sandeman will, it is hoped, be the means of inducing Mr. Walsh to take some action in the matter, as it is now very evident that had only fiar and honourable means been adopted,   and proper justice been done to this   place, the tallies would have been com- pletely turned. I must confess that I   could see very little drift or meaning in the long letter of Mr. W.'s which ap- peared in your issue of the 26th ult. The information may be relied upon as au-   thentic. In our Extraordinary of the 23rd ul-     timo, we published the substance of a     statement, made by a shepherd, named Edward Kenny, who had escaped from the Blacks by jumping on a horse, and   so reached Mr. Gregson's Station in     safety.
