POLITICAL POINTS. . . p . — — ? *^^~ Mr. Reid (to Mr. Copeliind) : 'You would be better in a mine 1000ft. below ground,' Mr. Copeland : ' You would be better in a circus.' Mr. Reid: 'I might amuse somebody, but - you haven't even that excuse for your existence.' ? ( ? ' ? ' The will of the late Mr. J. Campbell; Minister for Education, Victoria,' has been filed, the value of the estate being £53,588. When you've nothing to do - But to handle your screw, And to live on a suffering' nation, - - - ? No wonder N.S.W. is going to rack and ruin. Do you stand by justice only when she .is popular, or would you rather lie with her in the gutter, than ride in a carriage with wrong an injustice. Manildra. [Newspaper Article] — Molong Express and Western District Advertiser — 18 November 1893

Manildra. FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT. , Monday must be an unlucky day, with MeaBrB Baxter and Saddler, as the mail train, broke down again here on Monday last. This being the: only engine the contractors had in going order they had to send to Molong for a fitter arid patch it up before the passengers and mail could be taken to Molong. The damage must have been rather aerious, as it was nearly four o'clock on Tuesday morning before the train got away. Many and loud were the cunplaints of the passengers, several having urgent business in Sydney. We should say it is quite time the Government took the line over, or else make 'the contractors have more satisfactory arrange ments, for it iB becoming a regular thing to break down and lose the Sydney mail once or ' twice a week. I don't think, Cobb & Co. would be allowed to carry on bo irregularly. ' The Progress Committee meeting fell through again on Monday for the want of a quorum. ;This is not as it should be, and I hope the sec ret...

Extraordinary Lucerne Growth. [Newspaper Article] — Molong Express and Western District Advertiser — 18 November 1893

* Extraordinaty Lucerne Growth; On Monday last, the Rev. J. Alldia brought to our office a specimen of lucerne grown by Mr. E. 0. Cousins, at Bed. The longest stalk of the specimen measures no less than 5ft. 10in., *nd was taken from a crop of seven acres, from which it is probable that specimens of even greater length could be found. The crop is on a dark red ground, and Mr. Cousins firmly believes that but for the dry weather experienced lately the 'whole crop would have attained several inches higher than it is at present. The wonderful growth of this leguminous plant produces extraordinary evidences of the pro perties of the soil at Beii, and at the same time speaks well of the skill displayed by an old' an experienced farmer. The crop of lucerne referred to could not be mown by one of the machines ordinarily used in the district, but Mr. Cousins has just piooured one from Messrs. Lassettergand Co. to operate - upon this and other crops. We were also informed that Mr. Cousins ha...
