The match was rather remarkable for the brilliant final quarter played by Yarraville, . who fairly ran their opponents off their legs and won meritoriously- by six points after having .appeared* beaten. . BRITISH ASSOCIATION. SPOTSWOOD v N & D (FOOT-1 SCRAY. - Tlie~ abcve teams met on the. Spotswood ground last Saturday,-1 and a' good, even game was wit nessed. Spotswood were without the services of Welden, who hat met with an accident at work and Walsh who was on the sick list. Pugh and Griffiths were called upon to fill the vacancies. Spots wood's captian Von. the toss and dec ded to kick towards the creek and face the wind in the first half. Right from the start Spotswood got to work on the N and D's defence and after 10 minutes play; Griffiths scored the first goal for Spotswood. It was well worked for, Grieves centreing fine, and Griffiths meet ing it on the bounce. Board Water Rate At Tuesday's meeting of the Footscray Council^ (Jr Shilla beer. (who is the council's re presentative on. the Metropol itan Board) said that he inten ded tq make an ettort to, have the water rate reduced from 7d to 6d in the £. He thought the time hac$ arrived for such action. The Board's* rervenue had-increased! by £50000 in the last year. Footscray were defeated in• their Saturday engagement, but they made amends by a fine victory on the Monday. Two new men to Footscray colors, but old footballers Casey, from South Melbourne, and P. Williamson, late of North Melb were included in the Footscray team for the first time, but they failed to reproduce the form that was expected from them, and were not included in Monday's team. Donnelly and Smith, who had failed to make good on previous occasions, were omitted. A crowd of about 4,000 watched the game it Toorak Paik, and they saw a good display.
