The Idiosyacracies of the Old Age Pensions Boards. [Newspaper Article] — The Bega Budget — 22 November 1905

The Idiosyncracies of the Old Age Pensions Boards. The Delegate ''Argus' reports a case with reference to the vagaries of the administration of the Old Age Pensions Act, which is only typical of many which come to light. from. ''time to time. A miner named Robb, 'as honest a man as ever tho sun shone on' (says the 'Argus'), a victim to rheumatism and devoid of means of support, applied for a pension and cot it. After about a year or so the Board without notice stopped the pension and gave no '-[yon for its action.. About 2?- yours preceding the ,date of his application Robb had been working as puntman on the Snowy Kiver (a few miles over tho border), and this is apparently the reason for the stoppage of the pension. The fact that the old man had worked in Victoria at all was sullicicnt to inllamc the passions of any N.S.W. public department. Now, while Robb, technically, was probably not entitled to a pension — and tli at should have been ascer tained at the timo the application was...
