THE NORTH PLATTE- SEMI-WEEKLY -TRIBUNE-: TUESDAY EVENING, MAROH-3!, 1896.- TAKE TO WASHING. WHY THE CHINESE LIKE THAT BUSI NESS IN THIS COUNTRY. It Is So Much Easier Cere Than at Some In China Washing In Ice Covered Ponds and Beating Out the Dirt With Stones Tor Very Small Pay. Among the thousands of Chinamen in this city few, besides the store and restaurant keepers on Race street, follow any other calling than that of laundry man. The truth is that the Celestial Kingdom's 450,000,000 of tea drinkers do a smaller percentage of washing than any other large country. What little washable clothing they wear is cleansed in the paddy fields near the wearer's home, and only the Europeans and richer class of natives require...

THE NORTH PLATTE SEM -WEEKLY TRIBUNE: TUESDAY EVENING, APRIL .7, 1896. COPYl'tfHT 189?. PREFACE. "It seems to me," said a philosopher once, "that there are no entirely good men In tie world and none completely bad. Single out your best man, and you will find that ho lacks perfection in some part of hini, and examine your "worst, and you will sec that he has at least one redeeming quality." In this book the men mostly vergo to trard bad, but some are better than others. Because they are merely human they act according to their lights. You may meet others liko them any day If you go out and about, and most of them give extremely good dinners. Till they are found out you consider them amusing. Afterward, being better than they, you naturally set them down as most pernicious scoundrels and shake hands with yourself and write to your tailor and order more noticeable phy lacteries on tho next new suit. This is called "keeping up a healthy moral tone" and does a great deal of good in tho w...
