TILDEN'S HOUSE. Ex-oov. Samuel J. Tilden occupies a unique position in American politics, and his handsome mansion in Gramercy park has been the Mecca of political pilgrimages without number. It is'one of the most attractive dwellings in New York, writes a correspondent of Tie Omaha Herald. It was not constructed for some successful but ignorant gam bler of Wall street or the produce-ex change. but for one of the most re markable figures in modern polities and under his cultivated supervision. It is two houses made into one, and unites something of the gothic with not a few of the graces of the French renaissance. Between the two bay windows are the carved heads of Shakspeare, Milton, Franklln, Goethe, and Dante, Mr. Til den's favorite authors. At the main en trance polished red granite columns in the style of the renaissance support corbels on which are carved in bold re lief the beautiful heads of the goddesses of the four seasons, each framed in carved foliage according to the se...

JUGGLING. An Expert in the Art Desertbee roae of His Trieks. I. Paul Cinquevalli. the famous jug gler, said recently to a reporter for The Pall Mall Gazette: *'Unless I am developing a new trick I seldom practio ed now. I am a juggler. I invent my own business. That is one of my dif ficulties. New tricks are copied. When I find that I have an imitator I invent something else. For instance, a thought came to me this morning, a trick with a cigar and a cigar-holder. I throw the cigar up and catch it in every position in the tube of the holder. I shall practice it a month, perhaps for an hour or two a day. I never give a a trick without being so sure of it that I would bet a large sum against failure. Simple juggling, such as one does with balls, one could be blindfolded, so cer tain has the hand become. The hand follows the eye, but the hand is the more Important of the two. Suppose 1 have a half a dozen knives in the air, I propel one so as to give it half aturn, another a turn, a th...

A PATIENT WAITER. How a Tramp Ireplentlied Ills Ex chequer in a Barber Shop. "Ther: is no end of schemes for beating people for those who make their way through the world without working," said a Smithfield street bar ber this morning,. as he was putting on some finishing touches to a reporter, who was having his hair done up pompadour and his moustache twirled in a Napoleonic twist. The tonsorial artist seemed to have been making a remark to himself, and it was not until the interrotory *"What do you mean?" was projected toward him that he proceeded to give the reason. *I was just thinking." said he "of a neat little game which was played here an evening or two since.
