SOL. KILLER, ..... EDITOR. WHITE CLOUD, XASSAS: Tiirsitf, ! : : October 6, 1839. f pro-slavery ticxet. Agreeably to a promise made last week, we now proceed to give some of the bright, particular spots" and "striking pointa" in the history and character of the nominees on the Pro-Slavery ticket, call ed Democratic, to gull those who are led away by the ring of the word Democracy. There may be ose or two candidates upon the ticket who have not lost all their re spectability ; bnt npon Iho whole, s more miserable ticket could not have been got ten np one so little deserving the support of honorable and intelligent freemen. Geo&ok M. Beebe, of Troy, is their candidate for Councilman. His friends take especial pains to parade the fact that he is one of the family of Beebea who publish several newspapers half relig ions, half inSdel, and thoroughly Pro Slavery Democratic. We contend that Be hat not the ability to make a tenth rate Legislator. His supporters say he came here to practi...

Horses ycasci Oxek ox a Farm. The first thing that gave oar manufac turers the start they have received in thin country, was the improvement made in oor machinery. We had to pay two or three times the price for labor common in Europe, and hence it became a matter of great importance for 01 to economize it in eveiy way. The system of long ap prenticeship and cheap labor made it not worth while there to experiment much in that direction. With as the case wait altogether different. Labor wat every thing, and ingenuity of all kinds to savej that, was at work in all directions, and thus from Franklin's motto of well paid labor, sprang our success in manufactures. The same seems likely to be true in regard to oar success in agriculture. A few English noblemen can and do exper iment on steam plows and reaping ma chines. But the great balk of the plow ing throughout Europe is done at this moment by oxen and asses, and tome times even by women yoked in with the beasts they drive. In this cou...

E!)c Kansas )d. SOL.. KILLER, - - - EDITOR. WHITE CLOUD, KAKSAS: Tkirsiij, : : KsHroeer 3, 1851. Overdoing the Thing. ' Bat few weeks ago. the editor of the Iowa Point Dispatch, in ft fit.of honesty, declared that, if he could aaj nothing in favor of hia own party candidate, he would not endeavor to villify thoae of the I opposite part j. Bat it seems that he bai already forgotten that laudable resolution; for in hia last issue he psys hia rwpect to aome of the Republican candidates, in column or more of slang. The greater portion of the article ia devoted to Win. D. Beeler ; and from pernial of it, we 'judge that the author set vat upon lying expedition, determined not to touch upon truth throughout the entire ronte. If so, he has succeeded admirably. The beauty of it is, the article was dictated (knowing ones say written) by Thomas J. Vander eliee, himself s candidate for the Legis lature, The article begins with ft lie..
