TUCVMCARI IS IN VAN OF MARCH OF PROGRESS R.ailroad Bound to Come From the East CIVILIZATION OF QUAY COUNTY ACCOMPLISHED Correspondence Morning Journal. Tucumcari, N. M., May 19. Tucumcari, which no one has ever attempted to dispute, has a lontf lead over every other town in east ern New Mexico, is expectantly awaiting the construction of the projected railway from Amarillo, Texas. Eighty per cent of the route has been graded, and al though there is nothing doing just at present the railroad is bound to come, to use the expression of a well known attorney who was talk ing to the Morning Journal corres pondent on the subject. "That line simply can't help be ing built," he said. "It will com plete what is practically an air line from New Mexico to Memphis, Tenn., the great railroad and trade center of the south. Attorney General Reid took charge of the office at once, the former incumbent having previously re moved his private law library and papers. Colonel Prichard, who is engaged in the prosecution of a murder case in the district of Ros well, could not be present to turn over the affairs of the office. E. C. OUTLOOK BRIGHT IN MARKET FOR WOOL While the wool trade in the west has not assumed fhu propor tions thus far this year as con fidently expected at the start of the season, the general opinion is that there is nothing in the sit uation to cause a very pesimistic feeling in regard to prices. At the third series of colonial wool sales in London recently there was an advance of from 5 to 10 per cent in prices over the pre vious sale, with competition very keen. Remarking about the sit uation in Wyoming, where grow ers are firm in the belief that there is a combination among buyers to restrain advances, and most of the crop is being held, J. M.
