Last Wednesday was the day fixed for a consideration of Cincinnati Sena torial contested fats. The Democrats . in order to render powerless the pur pose ot the Republicans, to carry out the arbitrary plan agreed upon by the Republicans, left the Senate, breaking a quorum. Without a.quorum, no legal, legislative proceeding can be done. Tiie Democrats went, some to Ken tucky, others to Detroit, Van Cleaf re mained. On Saturday, the Republicans swore in the contesting members, and preced ed to transact business. The Democrats hold that all this action is unlawful, and will be so declared by the Supreme Court. There is probably very little doubt but that the storm of Wed nesday evening of last week was the niosi dislructive that ever visited the State. Prom the Ohio river to the lakes, reports have been received of appalling disas ters. So great has been the loss of life, of houses and barns and stock, that the distraction of tim ber, orchards and fences have not been taken uito consideration at all, and it would take a careful canvass of the townships in the storm-swept counties to ascertain the actual loss of the people. Fortunately Logan escaped with very little damage. The storm struck the town at about'a quarter of 11 o'clock and raged until nearly one the next morn ing. The rain-fall was unusually heavy, but while the wind shook the strongest buildings to their foundations, there was not ...
