fV, 38. six EMPORIA, KANSAS. 5 SATURDAY, APRIL 5 1862. Three hundred and fifty prisoners, taken at Pea Ridge, reached St. Louis on the 22d ult. A thousand Mormons, from the three nor thern countries of Europe, are just leaving for Utah, by way of Hamburg. There are now four or fire thousand troops at Lawrence. They will be paid off before starting for New Mexico. . Iljn. II. B. Denman has been nominated for Mavor of Leavenworth City, by the Democrats. We do cot go much on Dem ocrats, but confess we would not be sorry to see so good a man as Denman elected.- -By a general order, dated Fort Smith, March 9th, officers of McCulloch's com mand are directed to report in person at the Adjutant's office for the purpose of attend ing his funeral. Gen. Grant has been reinstated in Lis command. It is now ascertained that the only "bad conduct" he displayed, was his being in favor of fighting, whether it hurt anybody's feelings or not.
