Me expects thirtv or more teachers to attend. Prol. I. F. Dodcrur of Demin, lias been em ployed as tnstrui tor with Miss Pearl Barker as assistant. The last two days ol the institute, Fri day and Saturday, will le set apart for examination ol teachers who desire certificates. Mr. Ku dulph tells us that the county schools have made ureal progress during the past two years. Two years ago we had sixteen school districts with 720 scholastics and now we have grown to forty-eight school districts with 3.685 scho lastics and schools to begin in most districts in September. S. E. Pelphry reports that the now round house will be ready for use in fifteen days, but on account of the siow arrival of material from the Alamogordo lumber mills he was unable to say at what date the shops would be completed. The shops and round house are to be the second largest on the South western Railroad. The largest being at El Paso. The Eagle Cornice Works is in creasing the size of its building. H. L. Hamminsof Rocky, Okla. , spent a few days here during the early part of the week. He in vested in real estate. Many republicans and good cit izens generally have approved the editorial in last week's issue of the Register-Tribune in regard to the president's responsibility for the government of New Mexico under the administration of Gov. TEACHERS INSTITUTE IN SESSION The first session of the Quay County Teachers' Institute was hold Monday afternoon, Prof. Doderer of Demingnnd Miss Pearl Barker of Las Vegas being the in structors. Prof. Doderer has charge of the academic department and Miss Barker is giving some work in primary methods. COUNTY FAIR MEETING Organization Perfected and Now Ready for Business. The meeting called at the court house last Saturday for the pur pose of discussing the feasibility of a fair this fall, was largely at tended by our business men and citizens. The meeting was called to order by Col. Theo. V. Heman who explained in a few words the objects of the meeting and the purposes of a county fair. The permanent organization selected Donald Stewart chairman and W. F. Buchanan secretary. A gener al executive committee was ap pointed wjth the power Jto select all sub-committees necessary to meet the demands of the organiza tion. The following citizens were named on this committee: VV. A. Jackson, T. W. Heman, W. C. Buchanan, Donald Stewart, C. PI. Chenault, W. C. Mechem, T. A. Muirhead, J. E. Wright and W. B. Fowler. This committee met in the oflice of Col.
